M50 Widening

The first road signs for the new M50 Phase 2 Widening scheme were supplied by Rennicks recently to the the contractor responsible for the project, M50 D&C Ltd.

With over 60 overhead gantry structures, this project provided an ideal opportunity to use Nikkalite Crystal Grade Microprismatic reflective sheeting. In addition, all the low-level directional signs, as well all the warning and regulatory signs, are faced with Nikkalite Class Ref 2 reflective sheeting.

The M50 Upgrade scheme comprises the addition of a third lane in each direction on the M50 over a distance of 31km between the M1 and Sandyford Interchanges. In addition a number of auxiliary lanes will also be provided at interchange locations, but generally the upgrade will be within the existing motorway boundaries to improve overall traffic flow and safety.
